Scholars as Leaders; Scholars as Learners (SAL2) Program
The mission of Scholars as Leaders; Scholars as Learners (SAL2) is to support FAS faculty members in their continuing growth as scholars, leaders, and university citizens, enabling them to excel in their work at Yale.

Cultivating collaboration and innovation
SAL2 is a signature program created by inaugural FAS Dean Tamar Gendler. SAL2 advances Yale’s larger mission of cultivating an interdependent and diverse community founded on the free exchange of ideas. Yale’s FAS is a singular place: our permeable disciplinary boundaries, unwavering commitment to faculty leadership, and consistent devotion to excellence in research and liberal arts teaching foster a singularly creative and collaborative community. SAL2 recognizes and reinforces this unique culture of collaboration and innovation.
