Lauren Bergquist

Lauren Falcao Bergquist joins Yale as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics and the Jackson School of Global Affairs. She was previously an Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at the University of Michigan. Her research is in development economics, with a focus on agricultural markets and firms in sub-Saharan Africa.  She has recently studied the determinants of food price fluctuations, the degree of competition among agricultural intermediaries, the effects of digital markets, and the impact of agricultural policies at scale in East Africa. Professor Bergquist has published work in the American Economic Review and the Quarterly Journal of Economics.  She holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
