Sebastian Hurtado

Sebastian Hurtado joins Yale as Professor of Mathematics. Sebastian comes to Yale from Colombia, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree at Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 2009 in Bogota. Hurtado’s research is interested in Geometry and Dynamics. More specifically, Lie groups and its discrete subgroups, the geometry and topology of locally symmetric spaces, rigidity theory, group actions on manifolds and the Zimmer program. Sebastian completed the Ph.D. at UC Berkeley in 2014 under the supervision of Ian Agol.
