Nandipa Sipengane

Lector in Zulu, MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies

Nandipa Sipengane will be joining Yale from South Africa where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Pretoria with a major in Business and Zulu. She also holds an M.A in African Languages and Literature form the University of Wisconsin Madison where she also taught Zulu. She has also taught Zulu at the University of Florida Gainesville. Spiengane is fluent in isiZulu, isiXhosa and seSotho. She is particularly interested in ethnomusicology and the pedagogy of using Umbhaqanga music in the L2 classroom.
