Meryem Ezgi Yalcin

Lector in Turkish, Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations

Prior coming to Yale, Meryem Ezgi Yalcin worked at Istanbul Technical University as an English language instructor. She also taught Turkish in the US and in Ireland and completed certificate programs in distance language teaching at the Yale Centre for Language Study and CARLA at the University of Minnesota. She is a Yale Fulbright and SUSI’s alumnus.  

Yalcin is interested in the social and individual variables in learning Turkish as a heritage and world language. She pursued a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics at the University of Glasgow, where she was awarded the Applied Linguistics Award. Before attending graduate school in the UK, Yalcin studied in Turkey and in Austria on TEFL.
