FAS Dean’s Office staffing updates and information

August 5, 2022

[Summary: This message announces staff promotions and new arrivals in the FAS Dean’s Office and provides contact information for FAS Dean’s Office personnel who can assist with staff and faculty questions.]

Dear colleagues:

As we return to campus and our thoughts turn to the new semester, I wanted to provide some brief updates and reminders on staff in the FAS Dean’s Office. I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of the members of the FAS Dean’s Office for their exceptional work and extraordinary dedication and remind you of the ways in which they are here to support you.

Promotions A to Z

I am pleased to announce that Alexandra Apolloni has been promoted to Assistant Dean for Faculty Development and Outreach. Alexandra has done stellar work expanding the suite of SAL2 programs offered by the FAS Dean’s Office. She has enhanced existing programs, developed new writing and coaching programs specifically designed to meet the research, teaching, and support needs presented by COVID, and has worked closely with FAS leadership to create new leadership training opportunities for both established and emerging faculty. In addition to her programmatic work, Alexandra will continue to provide expert support for high level communications from the FAS Dean’s Office, will collaborate with offices across the university to help to guide and implement FAS communications strategy, and will take on new managerial responsibilities. Please join me in congratulating Alexandra on this well-deserved promotion!

I am also delighted to share that Jason Zentz has been promoted to Associate Dean. Since joining the FAS Dean’s Office in 2016 after earning his PhD in linguistics, Jason has been an important contributor on matters of policy and an invaluable colleague to those he works with in the FAS Dean’s Office and across the FAS. As Associate Dean, Jason will continue his leadership on ladder faculty slots and search processes and his oversight of reviews and appointments for all language lectors and short-term English lecturers. This promotion also reflects the significant increase in Jason’s day-to-day operational management and formal supervisory responsibilities. We are excited for this next chapter in Jason’s FASDO career!

In addition, to more accurately reflect her wide-ranging contributions, FAS Chief of Staff Anne Shutkin ’03 will also take on the secondary title of FAS Senior Strategic Advisor for University Affairs. This additional title offers recognition of her external engagement responsibilities across the university in addition to the variety of internal policy, planning, and special project work she does so ably for faculty affairs, FASDO, and the FAS Dean. We are delighted to recognize Anne’s important contributions in this way.

New Arrival

Linda Relyea has joined the FAS and GSAS Dean’s Offices, reporting to Senior Director of Financial Operations Mary Magri as the Manager of Budgets and Financial Analysis, having served for seven years as Operations Manager for six FAS humanities departments. Linda will work closely with Mary and Manager of Finance and Administration Jennifer Medina on budgets and finance and data projects. Welcome, Linda!
