Peter Buisseret
Associate Professor of Political Science and Global Affairs
Peter Buisseret joins the FAS and the Jackson School as Associate Professor of Political Science and Global Affairs. He works in the fields of political economy and applied game theory. Before coming to Yale, he was the John L. Loeb Associate Professor of the Social Sciences in the Department of Government at Harvard University and previously held positions at the University of Chicago and the University of Warwick.
Buisseret received his PhD from Princeton University. His research has appeared in journals including the American Economic Review, American Political Science Review, and American Journal of Political Science. Notable publications include "The Race to the Base" (AER, 2020), "Crashing the Party? Elites, Outsiders, and Elections" (AJPS, 2020), and "Politics Transformed? Electoral Competition under Ranked Choice Voting” (AJPS, forthcoming).
Buisseret’s current projects examine how electoral reforms—particularly ranked-choice voting and small-donor campaign financing—affect political competition and polarization. His teaching spans applied game theory and political economy at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as topics in electoral systems and electoral reform.
