Alessandro Giammei
Alessandro Giammei (he/lui/tu) joins Yale as an Assistant Professor in Department of Italian Studies. Trained in Italy as a philologist and literary historian, Alessandro moved to the US to hybridize his research and pedagogy with Queer theory, speculative realism, and trans-historical perspectives, focusing on Italy’s delusions of genealogical roots in classical culture and the Renaissance. He wrote numerous articles, a book about the reception of Victorian Nonsense in modern Italian literature, and a collection of personal essays about Fitzgerald, academic migrations, and central New Jersey. He taught at Princeton as a Cotsen Fellow, at Bryn Mawr as an Assistant Professor of Transnational Italian Studies, and in the New Jersey prison system as a volunteer.
