Chade Bio Picture

Héctor Chade joins the FAS as Senior Lecturer in Economics. His research focuses on search and matching, contract theory, and market design, with interests spanning information economics, insurance markets, and incentive design. His work has advanced the understanding of matching markets, moral hazard, adverse selection, and the design of contracts and market mechanisms.

Prior to joining Yale, Chade was the Rondthaler Professor of Economics at Arizona State University, where he had been a member of the faculty since 1997. During his career, he also held visiting appointments at institutions including Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, the University of Michigan, Penn State University, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and the Cowles Foundation for Research in Economics at Yale University. He earned his PhD and MS in Economics from the University of Illinois and his bachelor's degree in economics from the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Argentina.

Chade has published extensively in leading economics journals, including the American Economic Review, Econometrica, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economic Theory, and Journal of Economic Literature. His research has examined topics such as matching markets, contract theory, insurance, and information frictions. He currently serves as an associate editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association and the Review of Economic Dynamics, and has received multiple excellence in refereeing awards from the American Economic Review and AER: Insights
