Marc Francis is the Manager of Film Programming within Yale’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He engages with faculty, academic departments, and students to curate vibrant, public-facing film and media programs that are interwoven into the academic curriculum.
Marc joined Yale in January 2024. Marc holds a PhD in Film and Digital Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Prior to joining the FAS, he served as Head Programmer for Wayward Cinema (Los Angeles), and worked in film archiving, preservation, and servicing at Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers Discovery, and HBO. He was currently the Associate Editor of Film Quarterly where he has served on the editorial staff for over eight years. His book Curating Deviance: Programming the Queer Film Canon (Duke University Press, February 2026) looks back at how queer and deviant art house films were programmed or curated in repertory and art house cinemas from 1968 to 1989.
