Faculty Academy: “Teaching and Learning with ChatGPT”
FAS Faculty Academy offers mini-courses and workshops taught by and to FAS faculty. They are intended to generate new ideas and energy, to provide opportunities to learn and experiment with new methodologies, and to strengthen connections and community among FAS faculty.
In February, Faculty Academy will offer Teaching and Learning with ChatGPT, a two-part tutorial by Michael Farina, Senior Lector I in Italian Language and Literature. If you would like to participate, please register below by Tuesday, February 18.
UPDATED to include OpenAI's new feature, "Deep Research."
This two-day mini-course is designed to give Yale faculty a more complete understanding of student use of ChatGPT/Clarity and provide strategies for effective integration of Large Language Models (like ChatGPT) into our teaching methodologies. The first class introduces ChatGPT's capabilities through case studies and interactive demonstrations, covering research support, writing assistance, and differentiated learning. Participants will also explore tasks relevant to their disciplines. The second class focuses on incorporating LLMs into lesson plans, fostering critical thinking, and addressing challenges like ethics, privacy, and bias. The course concludes with a discussion on emerging AI technologies, encouraging our colleagues to reconsider how they teach within an environment of such rapidly evolving pedagogy.
