Petrov Bio Picture

Alexander Petrov joins the FAS as Associate Professor of Mathematics. Petrov received his PhD from Harvard in 2022. He subsequently held a Clay Research Fellowship, based at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics, the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, and MIT.

During his time at Harvard, he earned the university's Certificate of Distinction in Teaching across four years, published multiple papers on his research, and gave talks at universities and seminars across the country.

Petrov’s current interests are in algebraic geometry and its connections to number theory and homotopy theory. Most of his current research is related to cohomological and homotopical invariants of algebraic varieties.
