FAS policy on on-campus final round interviews for 2021-2022
Departments may bring final round/shortlisted candidates to campus for on-campus interviews, or they may hold interviews remotely. Whether interviews are planned to take place on-campus or remotely, the same norm must apply consistently to all shortlisted candidates associated with a given search. That is: if a searching unit wishes to have one shortlisted candidate take part in an on-campus interview, all shortlisted candidates in the same search must be invited to take part in an on-campus interview.
For each search with which they are involved, departments must declare their intention to hold in-person or remote final interviews before deciding on the shortlist by speaking to their cognizant dean.
If a searching unit chooses to hold on-campus interviews, deviations from this format are only permitted in the following cases:
a) When an individual candidate requests a remote interview, or
b) When factors beyond a department’s control, such as university Covid-19 policies, or state, federal or international laws, require a shift to remote interviews for one or more of the candidates.
