Tyler Brooke-Wilson

Tyler Brooke-Wilson joins the FAS as Assistant Professor of Philosophy. Prior to joining Yale, Brooke-Wilsom was a Bersoff Faculty Fellow in philosophy at NYU. His research interests consist of the philosophy of cognitive science and the philosophy of AI. He approaches philosophy of cognitive science from a computational perspective, evaluating AI systems as hypotheses about the human mind; and the philosophy of AI from a human-comparisons perspective, exploring how the mind is similar to or different from AI systems. The aspiration of this work is to use AI to better understand the mind, and to use insights about the mind to help build better AI. He received his PhD from MIT’s Philosophy and Linguistics department, in collaboration with MIT’s Computational Cognitive Science lab, in 2023.
