Julia Millán Gómez
Lector in Spanish and Portuguese
Julia Millán Gómez joins the FAS as Lector in Spanish and Portuguese. She holds an MA in Hispanic Linguistics from Texas Tech University, where she is currently completing her PhD and is expected to defend her dissertation in October 2025. Her research explores the acquisition of phonetic and pragmatic features by second language and heritage speakers of Spanish during study abroad. Her work focuses on sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, and heritage language pedagogy, integrating these areas through both research and teaching. Originally from Spain, she earned a BA in Translation and Interpreting from Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Sevilla. Before beginning her graduate studies, she worked as a study abroad coordinator in Barcelona. She has designed and taught content for Spanish as a second and heritage language in a variety of instructional settings, including study abroad programs in Sevilla.
