Bailey Heath

Bailey Heath joins the FAS as Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics. He earned his BA in mathematics and psychology from Gettysburg College in 2019, and he completed his PhD in mathematics at the University of South Carolina in 2024 under the supervision of Alexander Duncan. Bailey’s research interests lie in algebra, algebraic geometry, and number theory, with algebraic tori and toric varieties being key objects of study in his work. In addition to research, he is passionate about sharing the joy and beauty of mathematics through his teaching. He served as a peer mentor to fellow graduate student instructors as a PhD student, and he is a fellow of the Mathematical Association of America’s Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) for the 2024-25 year. Outside of academics, Bailey enjoys spending time with his wife and is an avid baseball fan.
