FAS Faculty Leadership Programs

To advance Yale’s goals of cultivating innovative thinkers, educating a diverse body of students, and leading in scientific and humanistic research, Yale needs audacious and creative leaders committed to working across academic disciplines and divisions. SAL2 FAS Faculty Leadership Programs will enable faculty to cultivate these skills.

By providing training and mentorship that models how academic leadership is a form of intellectual work, this set of programs is designed to foster a culture of creative leadership in the FAS. In so doing, it will enable strategic succession planning at the departmental and decanal levels and will increase demographic and disciplinary diversity among FAS leadership.

During the Spring 2023 semester, SAL2 will offer two leadership programs:

FAS Leadership Series

The FAS Leadership Series is a set of virtual events that will take place during the Spring 2023 semester. These panels and workshops will provide opportunities for faculty to refine their leadership skills. Faculty members who attend at least three of the four leadership series events will receive priority consideration for support from the Coaching for Success program.

Workshop dates and topics will be announced in January 2023.

FAS Dean’s Leadership Fellows

The FAS Dean’s Leadership Fellows program is a focused, small group coaching program for faculty interested in pursuing or currently holding leadership roles. Leadership Fellows will meet regularly in small groups with a leadership coach to further develop their leadership goals and will participate in FAS Leadership Series events. Participants will be selected through a nomination process. Self-nominations and nominations of colleagues are welcome; the deadline for nominations is January 27, 2023.

More information and nomination guidelines are available here.
