Surya Raghavendran

Surya Raghavendran joins Yale as Gibbs Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from University of Toronto and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in 2023. His research interests concern interactions between geometry, representation theory, and high energy physics. He is particularly interested in using techniques from geometric representation theory, noncommutative algebraic geometry, and the theory of factorization algebras to define and exactly compute various BPS observables that can in turn facilitate rigorous formulations of string dualities. His recent work uncovered a 1/16-BPS sector of M-theory with close ties to infinite-dimensional exceptional simple super-Lie algebras, and his ongoing work aims to bring these ties to bear on versions of the AdS/CFT correspondence.
