Scholars as Leaders; Scholars as Learners Lunch-and-Learn Event: Department newsletters as tools for innovation and community building

Come find out how to create a workplace conducive to curricular renovation in a hands-on workshop on creating department newsletters. Former language program co-director Luna Nájera (Senior Lector I of Spanish) will speak about the role that newsletters can play in fostering workplace environments that recognize, value, and even prize ongoing professional development in ways that advance curricular renovation and innovation. Complementing Nájera’s presentation, Alex Gil (Senior Lecturer II of Digital Humanities) will share ideas on the use of digital tools like Canva and others to manage newsletter workload responsibilities. By the end of the workshop, participants will have created an outline of a newsletter that corresponds with their department’s vision.
