Katja Seim

Professor of Economics (FAS and School of Management)

Katja Seim is Professor of Economics in the FAS and the School of Management at Yale University. Her research focuses on topics of industrial organization and applied microeconomics. She studies how firms respond to public policies, including entry and technology deployment regulations, competition policy, and tax policy in their entry, product positioning, and pricing choices. Her work also evaluates the role of market power in affecting efficiency and distributional outcomes of government auctions to procure goods and services and sell assets. Before joining Yale, Professor Seim was on the faculty at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. In the 2016-17 academic year, she served as Chief Economist at the Federal Communications Commission. Professor Seim earned her Ph.D. in Economics at Yale.
