Kevin O’Neill

Kevin O’Neill joins the Yale Department of Mathematics as a Gibbs Assistant Professor in the Applied Math program. He received his B.S. in mathematics from Harvey Mudd College in 2013, and then his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2019 with a focus on harmonic analysis. In particular, his research emphasized multilinear inequalities and extremizers of classical normed inequalities. Kevin’s next stop was a Krener Assistant Professorship at the University of California, Davis, where he focused on smooth extension and interpolation of functions. Motivated by applications of this subject matter, his current research focus emphasizes connections with data science.
