On October 30, with bright tree leaves announcing the arrival of autumn at Hillhouse Avenue, FAS faculty recently promoted to positions of Professor and Associate Professor congregated at the Provost’s House to celebrate their achievement.

The promoted cohort is comprised of 25 faculty members, of which three join the rank of Professor and 22 that of Associate Professor, promoted between July of 2016 and July of 2018. They represent 13 departments spanning all four academic divisions: Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, and the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

FAS Dean Tamar Gendler hosted 16 of the faculty members alongside some of their spouses at the congratulatory dinner. They were accompanied by Dean of Humanities Amy Hungerford, Dean of Social Science Alan Gerber, Acting Dean of the SEAS Mitchell Smooke, and Acting Dean of Science Paul Turner, among others.

As dinner came to a close, Dean Gendler referred to the privilege of reading, in some capacity, the work of every single faculty member present, qualifying them as “extraordinary.” She also thanked her audience for entrusting the university since their arrival and for continuing to do so.

After delivering her remarks, Dean Gendler asked faculty members to switch places at the table, in an effort to exchange conversations among all attendants. We hope they continue to carry this spirit of collaboration in years to come.
