Dear FAS Staff,

We are grateful to all staff who responded to the survey on the return to campus, participated in the recent town hall meeting, or have shared questions. Thank you for your thoughtful engagement.

In recognition of the challenges associated with childcare, commuting, and other issues, we have introduced additional flexibility during early August to ease the return to campus. FAS staff who work directly with students will be expected to resume working on campus in accordance with all of their scheduled hours no later than August 23, 2021, when students arrive. All FAS staff will be expected to resume working on campus in accordance with all of their scheduled hours no later than September 1, 2021, when classes begin. For the early weeks of August, FAS staff may work with their supervisors to make individual arrangements.

Flexibility during the month of August may include some hybrid work arrangements. Staff and their supervisors may work together to determine the best schedule or arrangements. Staff who submitted a flexibility request for non-medical reasons in response to the message sent on June 16 will receive a response shortly. Staff who require flexibility for medical reasons should consult the Office of Institutional Equity and Access

If you have brought your office desktop computer home, remember that you may need to consult with ITS to set up your computer on campus. If that is the case for you, it is your responsibility to arrange an appointment. All staff should have the necessary equipment set up in order to work on campus by August 23 or September 1, 2021.

Finally, we will be hosting a live webinar led by facilitators from Optum, Yale’s Personal Wellness Signature Benefits provider. The webinar, COVID-19: Preparing You and Your Family to Return to Work, will provide tools for managing various challenges that may arise as we return to campus. It will take place on Tuesday, July 27th, from 2 to 3 PM. Materials and a webinar link will be available next week.

Thank you for all that you do for the FAS,

Tamar and Cathy
