FAS academic planning survey - responses requested by May 28, 2020 (May 27, 2020)

[Summary: This message solicits faculty responses to a survey regarding undergraduate teaching for the Fall 2020 semester. Responses are requested by May 28, 2020.]

Dear FAS ladder and instructional faculty members,

Over the coming weeks, we will be gathering information from individual faculty members and departments about a range of issues related to fall undergraduate teaching. In most cases, queries will come from your chairs; in a few cases – such as this one – we will ask you to respond directly to a survey on time-sensitive issues.

Please respond to the survey no later than May 28, 2020.  We thank you in advance for your reply.

An important caveat: The survey questions should not be interpreted as reflecting decisions that have been made, as enumerating the complete range of scenarios being considered, or as identifying the full implications of these scenarios for our many communities. Responses will not be considered binding for any individual faculty member, nor will they be considered a vote on a preferred outcome for how undergraduate teaching should be organized for all next fall. We are simply trying to get a rough sense of proportions on discrete subjects as we think through a range of possibilities that might be available to us.

In the meantime, the FAS committees and task-forces continue their work. Please feel free to send any comments or questions to contingency.planning@yale.edu at any time  We thank you in advance for your assistance.

With thanks,
