COVID-19 presidential committees on contingency planning (April 20, 2020)

To: FAS Faculty, FAS Staff, FAS Steering, FAS Dean’s Office

Dear FAS Colleagues,

As the spring semester nears its conclusion, the university has begun to engage in contingency planning for next academic year. To help guide this process, the president and provost have appointed six committees composed of faculty and staff from across the university to address, respectively, issues of academic continuity; research continuity; creative and artistic practice continuity; operations continuity; public health; and emergency policy. You can find a description of their charges and a list of their members here.

These committees will think about such broad questions as: How will we ensure the health and safety of our community under the various scenarios we might face next year? What forms might residential life take?  How can we best ensure that we are in a position to carry out our missions of teaching, research, and creative and artistic practice?

The FAS is well represented among those who have been called to serve on these committees. You can share any suggestions with our colleagues by writing to contingency.planning@yale.edu.

Thank you for your continued work on behalf of the FAS and of the university.

Stay safe, stay well,

Tamar
