Reminder: Registration deadlines for limited enrollment courses (May 20, 2021)

Dear colleagues,
We are writing to alert you that the message below was sent to undergraduate students earlier today by the University Registrar’s Office. The message reminds undergraduate students that registration worksheets are now open and will remain open until June 4; that instructors should expect requests for permission to enroll in limited-enrollment courses to be submitted by May 24; and that instructors are expected to respond to permission requests by May 28.
As stated in the message on early registration and limited enrollment courses sent to you on April 1, if you are using the Yale Course System (YCS) to manage your limited enrollment undergraduate courses where instructor permission is required, there are actions that you will need to take between May 24 and May 28:
- 9 a.m., May 24, 2021, is the primary deadline by which students should request admission for courses that that require instructor permission. While YCS cannot prevent students from expressing interest in your course beyond this time, you should only feel obliged to consider students who sign up by this deadline.
- In YCS, you may review the list of students requesting permission to enroll in your course. If the number of students requesting permission to take your course is within your course capacity, you may grant permission to all the students within the YCS system by May 28.
- If, on May 24, your student demand exceeds your course cap, you will need to review and select which students to admit into your course. Please confirm student spots in your classes by May 28.
- If you have spots remaining beyond May 28, students may continue to request permission to register in your course. Within the YCS system, you may choose to approve them at any time by June 4, or you may leave the spots unfilled – by disregarding or declining the student requests – until Add/Drop period at the beginning of the fall term.

Reminder: Early Registration open until June 4
Dear Yale College Student,
Early Registration for the fall 2021 term is in progress and registration worksheets will be open in Yale Course Search (YCS) until June 4. If a course requires instructor permission to enroll, submit instructor permission requests using the registration worksheet in YCS, by May 24. Instructors are to review and act on pending instructor permission requests by May 28, allowing you to make final early enrollment decisions by June 4.
Registration instructions, timelines, FAQs, and more can be found on the registration website. Dates for the Add/Drop period will be announced soon.
