Power outage on lower Hillhouse - Urgent information for classes (September 2, 2021)

Thursday, September 2, 2021

Dear Faculty and Students,

At midnight last night, the remnants of Hurricane Ida knocked out power across much of central campus, including in the residential colleges where most undergraduate students live. Power has been restored in some but not all of the colleges, and is in the course of being restored in teaching and office buildings across campus.

We ask faculty to be accommodating of students whose ability to prepare for or arrive promptly to class has been affected by this situation.

Below is a list of buildings that currently do not have power (as of 8:00 a.m.); these are the buildings located in the blocks between Prospect and Whitney Avenues, and between Grove and Sachem Streets.

Classes scheduled to take place in any of those buildings today (9/2/2021) should be held by Zoom or rescheduled. Classes in buildings other than those listed below should be held in person.

This is an evolving situation. We will update you as soon as we have additional information.
