Come to the first-ever night football game as the Yale Bulldogs take on the UPenn Quakers. It is also Employee Night at the Bowl with pre-game tailgating featuring food and activities from 5 to 7 p.m. (Two complimentary tickets for employees with Yale ID.) Yale Bowl, 81 Central Ave. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.

Listen to the United Voices of Abyssinian. Six choirs form the choral group central to the worship experience at Abyssinian Baptist Church and the culture of the Harlem community and New York City. The choir’s repertoire includes anthems and standard church literature, oratorios and major choral works, Negro spirituals, hymns, gospel music, praise and worship music, inspirational pop music, and sacred jazz. Free. Woolsey Hall, 500 College St. 7:30 p.m.

Attend a performance of Blood Wedding, the tragic theatrical poem by Federico García Lorca. Set in rural Andalusia, Spain, a young bride reignites a smoldering family feud when she abandons her groom and runs away with a former lover. According to the producers, “Blood Wedding is so sensual, you can almost taste it.” Yale Repertory Theatre, 1120 Chapel St. Friday, 8 p.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Join the Yale men’s and women’s basketball teams as they kick off their 2016-2017 season. At Blue Madness there will be plenty of on-court entertainment including music, slam dunk and three-point contests, and numerous prize giveaways — including a $300 Apple gift card and a free semester of text books. The first 500 fans in attendance receive a Yale Basketball t-shirt. Free. Payne Whitney Gym, Lee Amphitheater, 70 Tower Pkwy. 7 p.m.

Celebrate the public opening of David Friend Hall, the museum’s new 2,300-square-foot gallery of minerals and gems. From delicate diamonds to a single crystal that weighs 2,000 pounds, David Friend Hall will soon become a signature gallery of the Peabody Museum. Activities will include a mineral dig and touch table, a craft activity, and a scavenger hunt. Free. Peabody Museum of Natural History, 170 Whitney Ave. Noon-5 p.m.

See a screening of Spirits of Rebellion, directed by Zeinabu Irene Davis. The film documents the lives and work of a small collective of critically acclaimed black filmmakers and media artists known as the Los Angeles Rebellion. The group “aimed to reimagine the production process so as to represent, reflect on, and enrich the day to day lives of people in their own communities.” The screening will be followed by a conversation with the director. Free. Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall St. Screening at 7 p.m.
