Senior Advisor to FAS Dean Gendler joins FAS Team

February 11, 2016

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences team welcomes Bethany Zemba to the position of Senior Advisor to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), effective January 11, 2016.

Bethany comes to FAS from the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, where she has worked since 2004. Her most recent role was as Chief of Staff to Dean Peter Crane and Assistant Dean of the School of Foresty & Environmental Studies. In those roles, Bethany had oversight of faculty affairs, digital and online education, communications and web operations, and pre-award government grant proposals. Bethany holds a B.S. and M.P.A. from the University of Rhode Island and a Doctorate in Education (EdD) with a focus on higher education administration from Johnson and Wales University.

At Yale, Bethany advised Dean Crane on a variety of matters, including ladder and non-ladder faculty appointments, strategic planning, integration of digital initiatives into the classroom, raising the profile and impact of the school, international partnerships, academic policies and initiatives, financial aid, safety and security, curriculum development, student matters, and special projects.

In Bethany’s new role she will work closely with Dean Gendler to advance the initiatives of the FAS Dean’s Office. Bethany will be FAS’s primary person for directing communication, both within the office and with senior university leaders. She will organize major projects and strategy, manage the flow of information, and monitor the many activities that are on-going in the FAS Dean’s Office.
