Peter Schiffer appointed a Senior Fellow of the Association of American Universities

May 12, 2020

Peter Schiffer, the Frederick W. Beinecke Professor of Applied Physics in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences has been appointed a Senior Fellow of the Association of American Universities (AAU).

As an AAU Senior Fellow, Schiffer will work with research leaders from across the country to confront major challenges facing the research enterprise in higher education. These include, most immediately, the impact of the pandemic on research. Schiffer will work to help identify and share best practices for resuming research in the wake of this disruption to academic life. In addition to this project, Schiffer will play a key role in developing resources to support AAU’s activities on topics such as open access to research data and efforts to address foreign interference in research.

By participating in these conversations on a national level, Schiffer will strengthen Yale’s capacity to respond to the most significant issues facing colleges, universities, and the research enterprise.
