‘Giving Thanks, Giving and Living United’
The following is a message to the Yale community from Bruce D. Alexander, vice president for New Haven and state affairs and campus development, and Michael J. Morand, deputy chief communications officer and chair of the 2015 Yale United Way Campaign.
We write as fellow members of the Yale community, longtime citizens of New Haven, and committed United Way of Greater New Haven supporters.
New Haven Mayor and Yale alumna Toni Harp ’78 M.E.D. said last month, “Greater New Haven would not be the same without Yale; likewise, greater New Haven would not be the same without the United Way.”
The Yale United Way Campaign makes a real difference in the lives of so many who live in New Haven and the region. Last year’s Yale campaign was the best ever, with a record number of donors and dollars raised. We are thankful that this year’s campaign is ahead of last year’s pace in its first month. More and more Yale faculty and staff recognize the vital difference United Way makes with our neighbors in New Haven.
If you have already contributed, thank you! We hope you will encourage your colleagues and friends to join you and give this year.
If you gave last year but have not yet renewed, we encourage you to do so soon and to join the two of us and many others who have increased our contributions this year.
If you have never participated, we hope you will take a new look and consider adding your gift to those of a growing number of Yale colleagues who contribute to United Way.
Giving to United Way is simple to do online and through payroll deduction by visiting http://unitedway.yale.edu
Please accept our thanks for your consideration and for the many ways Yale faculty and staff give of their time, talent, and generosity to making New Haven such a caring community.
