FASDO Summer Training Series

Dear FAS and SEAS department staff,
 
As we enter the summer months, we are delighted to announce the launch of a series of trainings for those staff who have responsibilities related to searches and reappointments, promotions, and tenure (RPT). These interconnected, virtual trainings are designed to aid staff in developing the skills to successfully manage the search and RPT processes from start to finish, in addition to other FASDO processes.  
 
These trainings are open to all department staff who have responsibilities related to search and RPT processes or who supervise staff who do. More details on the trainings, including registration, is below. We hope you will consider participating.

Training Schedule

The training series will consist of 10 weekly meetings, on Tuesdays, which will build upon one another. While we encourage participation in as many sessions as possible, you are not required to participate in every session to take part in the trainings.

To participate in any or all of the trainings, please register online. Add the full training series to your calendar (.ics file).

The schedule is:

  • July 12 (10am)
  • July 19 (10am)
  • July 26 (10am)
  • August 2 (10am)
  • August 9 (10am)
  • August 16 (10am)
  • August 23 (10am)

And topics to be covered will include:

  • Introduction to FAS and how to be a chair’s assistant (June 14)
  • Overview of the search process (June 21)
  • Overview of reappointments, promotions, and tenure cases (June 28)
  • An in-depth look at initial appointments (ladder, instructional, and research)
  • An in-depth look at reappointments and promotions

The topics for the remaining sessions will be determined based on feedback from participants.

All sessions are expected to last roughly one hour and will be recorded.
