President Peter Salovey has appointed a committee to advise him on search for a successor to Yale College Dean Jonathan Holloway, who will leave Yale at the end of the academic year to serve as provost at Northwestern University.

Bhart-Anjan Bullar, assistant professor of geology & geophysics
Sarah Demers, the Horace Taft Associate Professor of Physics
Jessie Hill, dean of Silliman College
Shelly Kagan, the Clark Professor of Philosophy
Alice Kaplan, the John M. Musser Professor of French
Sharon Kugler, university chaplain

Catherine Panter-Brick, professor of anthropology, health, and global affairs; head of Morse College
Anthony Reed, associate professor of English and African American studies
Steven Smith, the Alfred Cowles Professor of Government and Philosophy
Brandon Marks, Yale College Class of 2018 (Silliman College)
Pilar Montalvo (staff), director of administrative affairs, Office of the President
Salovey noted that the members of the committee will meet broadly with the Yale community. “They will seek to define the essential qualities, broadly speaking, of the next dean and collect recommendations for specific individuals who might serve in this capacity,” he said. “The next dean will be an exceptional scholar with demonstrated commitment to the university’s educational mission.”
“I also want to take this opportunity to reiterate my profound gratitude to Jonathan Holloway for all that he has contributed to the life and success of our undergraduate community. He has positioned Yale College for continued excellence under the next dean,” said Salovey.
