Proposed Federal Grant Guidance: Opportunity for Faculty Feedback

Dear colleagues,

Recently, President McInnis and Provost Strobel shared a message detailing a new rule proposed by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) that would revise the Guidance for Federal Financial Assistance.  If adopted, these revisions will affect how agencies design grant programs, select projects for funding, oversee the conduct of grantees and contractors, and more.

The OMB is accepting public comments on the proposed revisions through July 13. Yale will submit an institutional response, and individual faculty who wish to do so may also submit comments to the OMB on their own behalf.  

If you are interested in learning more, you can review this brief guide, prepared by the Provost’s office, which summarizes the proposed revisions, highlights issues that may be relevant to your work, and outlines how to submit a comment to the OMB.

Faculty are also welcome to share perspectives directly and confidentially with the President and Provost, for consideration as the university prepares its institutional response. If you would like your feedback to be considered, please share it by July 3.
