Hybrid work schedules for staff in FAS, GSAS, SEAS, and Yale College

This message announces an important update regarding the hybrid work schedule for all staff in the FAS, GSAS, SEAS, and Yale College.

To: All staff in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS), School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), and Yale College (YC)
Cc: FAS and SEAS Department and Program Chairs, Heads of College, FAS Steering Committee

Dear colleagues,

We are writing to share an important update regarding our hybrid work schedule. Beginning Monday, January 12, 2026, FAS, GSAS, SEAS, and YC staff who currently work on a three days on campus and two days remote option schedule will transition to a four days on campus and one day remote option schedule.

This change reflects our strong commitment to in-person academic community. By increasing our on-campus presence, we can provide the best possible support to our faculty and students, and ensure our ability to collaborate effectively with them and with each other. This will allow us to foster stronger connections among colleagues and be available to project a professional image for our departments and units.

During the summer months and following winter break, we will offer some flexibility in the days staff are on campus, acknowledging that during these periods there are fewer faculty and students on campus.

We recognize that changes to your schedule require adjustments to such things as commuting arrangements and family obligations.  We thank you in advance for your flexibility and dedication, and for the many remarkable ways you continue to contribute to our community. Your presence on campus truly has a huge positive impact.

If you have questions, please contact Theresa Pierson (FAS/GSAS), Erin Ethier (SEAS), or Marisa Figueira (Yale College).

With thanks,

Jeffrey Brock
