Yuejie Chi
Professor of Statistics and Data Science
Yuejie Chi joins the FAS as Professor of Statistics and Data Science. Her research interests lie in the theoretical and algorithmic foundations of data science, machine learning, and generative AI, with applications in sensing, imaging, decision making, and AI systems. Her works reveal and exploit low-dimensional data representations and problem structures to improve resource efficiency in terms of statistical, computational, and communication complexities and achieve their optimal trade-offs. Prior to joining Yale, she was the Sense of Wonder Group Endowed Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in AI Systems at Carnegie Mellon University, with courtesy appointments in the Machine Learning department and CyLab. She received her PhD and MA from Princeton University, and her BEng (Hons) from Tsinghua University, all in Electrical Engineering.
