Navin Kartik

Navin Kartik joins the FAS as Professor of Economics. He obtained his PhD from Stanford University in 2004. After starting his faculty career at the University of California at San Diego, he spent 17 years at Columbia University. At Columbia, he received the Lenfest Distinguished Faculty Award and multiple teaching and PhD advising awards, and he was active in Arts and Sciences and university-wide governance.

Kartik’s research focuses on microeconomic theory and political economy, with particular emphasis on game theory and information economics. His current work spans both theoretical topics, such as tractable characterizations of incentive compatibility, and applied issues, such as test-optional admissions.

Kartik is an elected Fellow of the Econometric Society and of the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory. He has served on numerous journal editorial boards and is currently the Lead Editor of the American Economic Journal: Microeconomics.
