Damanveer Singh Grewal

Damanveer Singh Grewal joins the FAS as Assistant Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences. He earned his integrated BS-MS degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in 2012. Before starting graduate school in 2016, he taught physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry to high school students preparing for engineering and medical entrance examinations as well as chemistry Olympiads. In December 2021, Grewal received his PhD in Experimental Geochemistry from Rice University, where he worked with Prof. Rajdeep Dasgupta as a NASA-FINESST Fellow. He then moved to the California Institute of Technology in January 2022 to work with Prof. Paul Asimow as a Barr Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow. From January 2024 to May 2025, he served as an Assistant Professor at Arizona State University.

Grewal’s research sits at the intersection of experimental geochemistry, cosmochemistry, and planetary science. His work seeks to understand the early solar system processes that gave rise to habitable worlds—both in our own solar system and beyond.
