Charles Reid

Charles Reid joins the FAS as Gibbs Assistant Professor of Mathematics. He is interested in topics in differential geometry and quantum field theory. Currently, he is working on problems concerning character varieties of surfaces, in particular Hitchin components and their compactifications.

Prior to Yale, Reid was a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig, Germany. He received his PhD in mathematics 2024 from University of Texas at Austin and received his BA from University of California, Berkley.
