Timelines for Ladder Faculty Reappointment/Promotion Reviews

FASTAP Year:
2007
2016

Last updated: February 1, 2024

Which timeline applies for my case?

  • If you are a non-tenured faculty member whose tenure clock began on July 1, your case will follow the academic year timeline.
  • If you are a non-tenured faculty member whose tenure clock began on January 1, by default your case will follow the calendar year timeline, but you may opt to shift your review earlier by 6 months to follow the academic year timeline.
  • If you are an associate professor with tenure (AOPT), you may opt to follow either the academic year timeline or the calendar year timeline for your review for full professor (PROF), though the effective date will be July 1 either way.

How firm are these deadlines?

  • The following dates are intended as general guidelines to ensure that all participants have sufficient time to fulfill their responsibilities with the care the reappointment and promotion process requires.
  • The deadline for the submission of final materials is firm, and you should plan accordingly; no extensions are granted except via an OIEA-approved workplace accommodation or by the divisional dean in limited emergency circumstances.

When will I receive updates about the status of my case?

  • Once you submit your final materials (dossier), you should not expect to receive any updates until the TAC has completed its review.
  • Vote dates are considered confidential and are not to be shared with candidates. These dates are often rescheduled for reasons having nothing to do with the content or merit of the case.
