Communities

As the map below illustrates, most FAS faculty reside within the greater New Haven area, with over 40% living within the city itself. The distance to New York City is perfect for day trips or weekend getaways, and a few of our faculty choose to commute to campus from there. (You may click on the map to see and explore a larger version.)

Map of FAS Faculty Residences as of November 2017

The table below lists the top 20 most popular places for FAS faculty to live. It also includes the distance to Yale’s campus, overall population, and median home value for each. Because over 40% of FAS faculty live in the city of New Haven (which has a population of 129,779 and a median home value of $162,200), we have included its individual neighborhoods to show how those are ranked relative to other towns. We encourage you to browse the links to find the perfect place to suit your needs.
