2023 FAS New Faculty Orientation

Welcome to Yale!

On Monday, August 21, we look forward to welcoming new ladder and full-time, multi-year instructional faculty in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) to FAS New Faculty Orientation.

Please register for FAS New Faculty Orientation by Monday, August 14 by completing the form below. The dress code is casual. We look forward to seeing you on August 21!

The Provost’s Office will host a university-wide new faculty orientation program on August 22.  You you can find details on the university-wide program on the Provost’s Office’s website.


Location information

FAS New Faculty Orientation day activities will take place in three locations on central campus:

  • Lunch sessions will take place in the Humanities Quadrangle, located at 320 York Street.
  • The afternoon panel sessions will take place in Dow Hall, Room 100, located at 370 Temple Street.
  • The closing reception will take place at the Yale Farm, located at 345 Edwards Street. There are a number of ways to get there: it is walkable from central campus, an optional shuttle will depart from Dow Hall at 4:15 PM, and parking is available on-site. If you do plan to park on-site, please email us at fas.dean@yale.edu so we can provide you with parking information.

Yale Transit can provide Accessible Transit Van transportation between venues, upon request, to faculty members who are registered with the Accommodation Program for Employees with Disabilities. To register, please follow the instructions outlined on the Office of Institutional Equity & Accessibility (OIEA) website.  Once registered with OIEA, please complete the Employee Request Form for Accessible Transit Van. You may then request a ride by calling 203-432-2788 (Press 1) or by booking through the TapRide app for iPhone or Android.

An introduction to the FAS, resources, and support available to faculty, followed by a networking lunch with current FAS faculty and leaders.

Breakout Session: Appointments and Promotions in the FAS

1:30 PM - 2:15 PM, Humanities Quadrangle

An overview of appointment, promotion, and tenure procedures in the FAS, with opportunities to pose questions to deans and staff.
