Dear colleagues,

We write to let you know that we have recently updated the procedure pages on the FAS website for reappointment and promotion reviews for multi-year instructional faculty.

Beginning in academic year 2023-24, FAS departments and programs will use Interfolio’s Review, Promotion, and Tenure module to request, store, and transmit materials associated with instructional faculty reappointment and promotion reviews. Interfolio has been the system of record for ladder faculty review materials for almost a decade, and we are pleased to extend its use to instructional faculty reviews, as many of you have already done within your own departments. To support this change, we have created a unified set of Interfolio templates, split our Referee Letter template into a Referee Request Email (for email distribution) and Referee Instructions Letter (for Interfolio distribution), and revised our procedure pages accordingly.

You have recently received or will soon receive a message from the relevant (senior) associate or assistant dean that summarizes TRAC’s assessment of the instructional faculty positions in your department and indicates which faculty may be required to undergo reappointment reviews this year. As you begin working on these reviews, remember to refer to the updated guidance on the FAS website. Questions that remain unanswered after consulting the website may be directed to the relevant (senior) associate or assistant dean, Neyza Sanchez (neyza.rodriguez@yale.edu, our senior administrative assistant who supports multi-year instructional faculty appointments), and/or fas.dean@yale.edu.

Best wishes,

FAS Dean’s Office, on behalf of TRAC (Teaching Resource Advisory Committee)
