Dear colleagues in Yale’s language instruction community,

As you heard last week, Nelleke Van Deusen-Scholl will be retiring at the end of this academic year, and the FAS Dean has charged a committee to provide her with recommendations on the future direction of the Center for Language Study in the near term and beyond. Our committee has held its initial meeting and we have begun to consult with faculty, staff, and students. One of our priorities is to hear views from across the entire language instruction community at Yale to guide our recommendations.

To that end, we have prepared a brief survey, which we ask you to fill out by Tuesday, November 15. Your responses will be anonymous, though we do ask you to identify your role in language instruction at Yale. They will be reviewed by the committee members and preserved for internal use only.

We are eager to hear from you. Thank you in advance for your input in this important process.

Kevin van Bladel and John Mangan,
Co-chairs, CLS Advisory Committee
