Yale-Harvard game: Get in the spirit

Yale wins the Ivy title outright if it triumphs in The Game at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 in the Yale Bowl. Here's a short video to get you in the mood.

The heady mixture of excitement and rivalry surrounding the annual Yale-Harvard football contest, known simply as The Game, will be headier than usual this year.

If Yale (8-1, 5-1 Ivy) wins The Game, it has the outright Ivy League championship — its first outright title in 37 years. If Harvard (5-4, 3-3) wins, the Bulldogs might have to share the crown with one or two 7-2 (4-2 Ivy) teams: Dartmouth and Columbia. To date, Yale has 15 Ivy championships, six of them outright titles. The last time the Elis shared the title was 11 years ago; the last time it shared the championship with multiple schools was 48 years ago.

The 134th edition of The Game will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18, in the Yale Bowl. Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m. For a look at some fun facts and dramatic moments in the history of The Game and to learn about this year’s Bulldogs, see this story on the Yale Athletics website. There you will also find links to ticket and parking information.

In the meantime, Eli fans can whet their spirit by watching this video.
