Edieal Pinker named the BearingPoint Professor of Operations Research

Edieal J. Pinker, newly named as the BearingPoint Professor of Operations Research, focuses his research on service process design, with a particular emphasis on operational problems in healthcare. 

In his research Pinker has explored topics as diverse as service supply chains, the use of flexible workforces, work and workflow design in healthcare, online auctions, and responses to terrorist threats.

A graduate of Columbia University, Pinker obtained master’s and doctoral degrees in operations research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He began his academic career as an assistant professor at the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester and was promoted to full professor in 2012. He joined the Yale School of Management (SOM) faculty in 2013 as a professor of operations research. Since 2015, he has held a secondary appointment as a professor at the Yale School of Public Health. In 2016, Pinker was appointed deputy dean of SOM.

The Yale professor is a widely published contributor to peer-reviewed academic journals and has delivered invited presentations at universities and professional organizations through the United States, as well as in Israel, Canada, and Singapore. He served on the editorial boards of several leading journals in the field of operations research, including as senior editor of Manufacturing and Service Operations and area editor of Operations Research.
