We live in downtown New Haven and love it that we rarely need to use our car. We walk everywhere—to restaurants, to the movies, to go to concerts and plays, even to buy most of the groceries and other items we need. There are many wonderful cultural attractions at Yale, and it is so easy for us to take advantage of them. You might think that we would run into students too often to feel that we had a private life. But that does not seem to be the case. Perhaps we go to bed too early! We enjoy taking walks to East Rock Park or our favorite place for birdwatching, the water treatment plant (which has a really beautiful wetlands and grasslands preserve). We also love strolling out Orange Street and having dinner at Caffe Bravo, a wonderful little neighborhood Italian restaurant. And when we are tempted by the offerings of the Big Apple, we head down to Union Station and take Metro North to Grand Central.”
