We live in East Rock, and cannot imagine living anywhere else. Nearly we could possibly need is within walking distance – on a given day we may walk to the top of East Rock, to a neighborhood restaurant, or downtown to the movies. We live close enough to campus so that I can go home for lunch if I choose. Beyond that, New Haven is great city for those who are into the food, nature, or the arts. The restaurant scene ranges from sustainable sushi and European restaurants, to local dairy bars and hole-in-the wall vegan Caribbean joints. Every neighborhood in town has a park to call its own – ranging from the wild and wonderful West Rock Park in Westville to the tidy Wooster Square green with its cherry blossoms and Saturday farmers’ market. Those with a taste for fine arts will likely be sated by the array offered by the university as well as by local artists and performers. If not, NYC and Boston are easy train rides away. It is pretty remarkable how much charisma, funk, and charm are packed into such a small city.”
