Announcing new support for FAS departments

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the FAS Dean’s Office has hired staff to provide new forms of support to FAS departments and programs. Two Faculty Appointment and Promotion Specialists will support departments with the faculty search, appointment, and promotion processes, and the new FAS Web Team will offer support for department websites (including assistance with the transition to the upgraded Yale Sites platform).

Faculty Appointment and Promotions Specialists

We welcome Dawn Hemstock and Megan Hauck, who have joined the FAS Dean’s Office as Appointment and Promotions Specialists.

The Faculty Appointment and Promotions Specialists will provide dedicated assistance to departments in need of support with faculty search, appointment, and promotion processes–work that would otherwise be performed by the chair’s assistant or department staff. They will work directly with the department chairs to prepare and disseminate materials and documents for ladder and instructional faculty searches, reviews, promotions, appointments, and tenure cases. Dawn and Megan will be subject matter experts on these processes and will ensure that they move smoothly and in accordance with deadlines and requirements.

Dawn and Megan will be assigned to work with departments in need of this focused support. This assistance, as well as other FAS department and program staffing needs, will be coordinated by Julie Sweigard, Assistant Director of Administration and Operations. FAS Web Team

We are pleased to welcome Eamonn Edge and Mary Callahan, FAS Website Managers.

Eamonn and Mary will provide website support services for FAS departments and programs, complementing and supplementing the support already provided by Yale’s university-wide web services team. They will offer technical website maintenance services to FAS departments, programs, labs, and centers who use the YaleSites platform; are available to consult on projects that may need an alternative hosting solution; and can advise FAS faculty and staff on other website-related needs. Over the summer, Eamonn and Mary will begin working with departments to rebuild department websites on the upgraded YaleSites platform. Working with the university-wide YaleSites team, they have met with most departments to discuss the upgrade process. If your department has not yet met with the YaleSites team, please email fas.web@yale.edu to set up a meeting.
